In the countryside of medieval France, two peasants in love, Jean and Jeanne, go to the local baron for permission to marry. The unusual approach to animation is what sets this anime apart from others. Careless watercolor washes are interspersed with drawn, engraving-like views of buildings. With expressive jazz music on the screen, psychedelic, hippie, LSD pictures swiftly replace one another. When an unorthodox approach appears, there is always something to watch, even if the experiment was a failure. In terms of graphics, 'Belladonna' turned out stylish. It is hard to forget.

But there were some annoying and significant flaws.

Well, some people have flaws, some have merits. I know for a fact that the type in which it fits the characters is demanded and loved. She reminds me of someone... Ahhhh!!! I remember, I remember! There's this popular cartoon about 'Dee the Vampire Hunter' and there's a main victim named Charlotte. She and Jeanne from 'Sad Belladonna' are twin sisters. In 'Dee', which came out later, most of the characters are like that, except for the passable ones. In 'Belladon', the secondary characters have been neglected, leaving us with the sexually intense adventures of Jeanne herself.
