Story Movie

Three stories about the near future of humanity, a future that may not exist, but the danger of events turning in that direction exists in our lives all the time.

Review 4K Movie

I just finished watching it, so to speak, and while the impressions are still fresh, I will try to write a review of the collection. (By the way, I haven't had much luck with reviews here: everyone disapproves and disapproves :-(, but I'll try anyway).

The synopsis here actually only corresponds to “Cannon Fodder”: “Magnetic Rose” and “Stink Bomb” have nothing to do with the stated theme; moreover, the second story is not about the future at all : - ) But first things first

1) “Magnetic Rose.” A beautifully made novella, worth watching if only for the visuals. The plot follows a group of pilots “named after the friendship of peoples” (consisting of a Russian, a Japanese, a Spaniard, and an American) who pick up a SOS signal from an area of strong magnetic radiation. The brave guys rush to the rescue (motivated solely by self-interest) and board a strange structure surrounded by the wreckage of spaceships. And on board this structure, to put it in literary terms, all hell breaks loose.

2) “The Stink Bomb.” A funny story that ends up resembling theater of the absurd (I understand, of course, that their guidance systems malfunctioned—but it was simply impossible not to kill the guy in such a situation, yet, obeying laws of physics and logic that are incomprehensible to me, for some reason he did not die). I can hardly say anything about the plot, but I can say something about the meaning. Here we are dealing with an accident at work, because the director has no reason to scatter biological weapons everywhere, and his employees have no reason to eat them. The result is not an anti-war story, but a satire about negligence.

3) “Cannon Fodder.” A story about the eternal theme of endless war. Who we are fighting, why... it's unclear. But in many ways, it's not about war, but about the fact that there are everyday things that need to be looked at from the outside. For the heroes of the story, war is as commonplace as work is for us, a struggle for the best piece of the pie and blatant lies from those in authority. But we know that their war is meaningless. So maybe our everyday struggle with what is happening is also meaningless.
