Used car salesman Rudy Russo, who works in old man Luke Fuchs's store, shamelessly poaches customers from a competitor - Roy Fuchs, Luke's brother. One day Roy's patience comes to an end, and he decides to get rid of his annoying neighbor and improve his financial situation.

But also Rudy, who dreams of winning a state senate seat, is also concerned with finding a large sum of money for his election campaign. However, fate deals him a crushing blow from a completely unexpected direction...

This movie is over 30 years old. I first saw it in 2004. I liked it a lot at the time. It was a surprisingly fresh, hilarious comedy. Now my views on cinema have changed, but after watching Used Cars I got a lot of positive emotions again. With this introduction I want to show that the attitude to the movie does not change. And what does not grow old is a classic.

And 'Used Cars' is a classic representative of American comedies of the 80's. It took me a long time to figure out what it was about this movie that was so endearing. Perhaps it's a certain recklessness, lightness, airiness, lack of pretension and pathos, but at the same time, in some places a cruel but surprisingly appropriate cynicism. I've only seen this kind of cynicism in expensive Guy Ritchie films.

But that was 20 years before Ritchie. The guys were taking a big risk with an adult comedy that was a lot of money at the time. The budget was eight million. However, unlike Zemeckis and Gale's debut, their second project managed to pay for itself.

Robert was able to establish himself as a director. He probably also managed to achieve natural unobtrusive acting, great dynamics and quite a quality production. As a result, in 1980 the guys made a comedy that even now you want to watch and tell your friends about it. And five years later they did something unbelievable called 'Back to the Future'.... But that's another story.

In short: a film that will entertain the company, but is not recommended for family viewing.
