Recently, passing by the racks of children's literature, my eyes suddenly fell on a book with a cute girl on the cover and the inscription "Matilda". Something so painfully familiar, something from my childhood... somewhere heard or seen somewhere. Looking at the author's last name, I remembered another Roald Dahl book "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory", I remembered the Tim Burton movie, I remembered the movie "Matilda" by Danny DeVito, which I watched about ten years ago. I had a big smile on my face: I decided to find the movie and re-watch it.

I found it. I watched it. Another smiley face. It's such a good movie, but it's not for kids. Roald Dahl's book became in 1999 the most popular among the small population and 15 thousand children voted for it, but it is useful for every adult to read it, if not to read the book, then to watch the movie, because you rethink values and think about what you saw in the movie only at a more or less conscious age.

She was not like everyone else by virtue of her genius. Her parents thought she was a dummy, which gave them a headache, but the parents themselves were stupid enough to see the unusualness of their daughter, because they didn't care that they had two children and besides the son, a child prodigy was growing up. Mom worried about the color of her own hair (involuntarily recall jokes about blondes and aphorism Harris that "Many women for some reason think that having a child and becoming a mother - the same thing. You might as well say it's the same thing to have a piano and be a pianist."). Matilda's father was only busy buying and selling stolen cars and watching TV shows of various kinds and indeed, 'the difference between adults and children is the value of their toys'.

A child is an intelligent being and is well aware of the needs, difficulties and hindrances of his life. The girl grows and learns everything on her own, reading at the age of 6 books by Charles Dickens, Jane Austen, George Orwell, Shakespeare's sonnets. She re-reads a lot of interesting literature, becoming a regular at the local library before her parents finally decide to send her to school. Matilda tries to re-educate her parents, later trying to re-educate the evil principal of the school, Miss Trunchbull, and she succeeds. This movie is about the fact that children are little people who demand respect and attention; adults are often busy only with their own problems, not even noticing their own children; cruelty breeds not always cruelty...
