Review 4K Movie

The year 94 has already become very distant. I bought a video player, which, by the way, is still alive and not going to break down. The second purchased videotape, on which two horror movies were recorded - Night of Demons 2 and Burning Moon. If the second movie did not like it at all, the first one was very impressive, and also reminded me of the movie Demons of Lamberto Bava seen in the video salon. And immediately a question arose - there must be a first part. It was found only a few months later in a set with the second part - and I can't perceive this movie in anyone's translation except Prytostanov, despite all his numerous reservations and hesitations.

The very first frames, or rather it's credits - cartoonish, with ominous and catchy music by Denis Michael Tenney. A sudden change - and a car with Roger, Helen and Six sitting in it appears on the screen. Another change of scenery - and already Judy, coming home from school, encounters a sinister old man, at home she is teased by her little brother, and afterwards Jay comes to pick her up to escort her to a party. Angela and Suzanne stock up on groceries at the supermarket in a very peculiar way. Max and Franny are only glimpsed in this prologue, but we get a glimpse of Sel's ways of finding out where his girlfriend is going for Halloween.

Some may find this prologue a little too long, more like a teen comedy - but isn't that one of the main charms of the movie? The viewer has time to get acquainted with all the actors of the picture, some of them immediately cause sympathy - and some of them disgust, they are not template cardboard characters, as it turned out in not so long ago filmed remake - in this movie each of them is a personality.

Jay, why aren't you in costume?
I wanted to.
Why isn't he in a suit? He's in a suit for the idiot who's getting married.

Even after the characters arrive at the ominous Hall House, the viewer is not immediately plunged into the atmosphere of horror - unless the first clue is the story being told:

... One of them went crazy and killed the whole family, they were just lying in pools of blood. And then he committed suicide.

And a dashing party turns into bloody action.

Having become a cult movie and having spawned two sequels, as well as serving as the basis for a remake, the movie Night of the Demons proved that the test of time he performed very successfully. The actors may not be of the highest caliber, but they played exactly as well as they should, neither overplaying nor underplaying. Demon makeup - still, despite countless viewings and knowing almost by heart each episode involuntarily shudder when suddenly appears on the screen toothy and wrinkled face of the monster. The music matches what's happening on the screen, keeping the atmosphere of the movie cheerful and creepy - and the song from the end credits - isn't it beautiful?

Kevin Tenney directed a true masterpiece that was the peak of his career - then an aspiring director - and alas, that he slid into the passable afterward. He made Amelia Kincaid one of the most famous representatives of otherworldly evil forces in movies - which negatively affected her future career - so she became associated only with Angela, playing the same character in both sequels.
