This film set the tone for my school years. We quoted the characters, imitated them, found things in common with them. But even though I am no longer a teenage girl, Clueless still stands out as an excellent example of a classic romantic comedy from the good old 90s. Inspired by Jane Austen's timeless work Emma, screenwriter Amy Heckerling successfully transported the story to the 20th century, preserving the simple but important main idea of the novel.

At the center of the story is Cher (Alicia Silverstone), the daughter of a wealthy but stern lawyer, who lives in Beverly Hills. She is young, popular, and completely clueless. Together with her equally popular friend Dion (Stacey Dash), Cher dictates the fates of those around her, interfering in the lives of teachers, friends, and acquaintances, as the heroine believes, out of good intentions. The measure of sobriety in her life is her stepbrother Josh (Paul Rudd). Despite the fact that Cher's father divorced Josh's mother long ago, he takes an active part in the boy's life. Between parties and shopping trips, Cher decides to take new student Tai (Brittany Murphy) under her wing. But the situation gets out of control.

The plot is very simple and straightforward. But all this nonsense is presented in such a lively and colorful way. This is a story about the coming of age of the spoiled but kind Cher. All the characters and the twists and turns between them are very interesting to watch. Stunning images, witty dialogues, and what can I say—this film has become a cult classic.
