48 years ago, John Shaft showed the American people what it feels like to be a man. Not just a man, but a black man: a strong, sexy, and smart black man became an inspiration to African Americans. Every black kid wanted to become like Shaft. It is not surprising that the detective became popular - in the 1970s two sequels and a short-lived series were released. In 2000, they wanted to restart the series about the legendary detective, but even the involvement of the box-office actor Samuel L. Jackson did not save Shaft from a modest rental. Shaft 4K 2019 technically continues the plot of the project 19 years ago. Jackson returned as the main character, he is less severe than a couple of decades ago. He is boldly supported by the original Shaft UHD - Richard Roundtree. Jesse Asher plays the third-generation Shaft Ultra HD - the meek FBI analyst does not like weapons, is afraid to invite her lover on a date and generally dishonors the cool detectives from Harlem. It is obvious what can come of this.

First, the idea is noticeable potential. The concept allows the past (both long and recent) and the present to come forward as a united front, so to speak, and demonstrate the difference in concepts of masculinity. There are even times when this comedy works. However, due to some points on the verge of a foul, Shaft 2160p 2019 is not perceived as a product of its time. Some aspects, as applied to today, show how much the world has changed. Public views and the world of cinema as such have stepped forward, which is why the old-fashioned Shaft 4K is directly felt.

As for the actors, Asher does everything possible, although he often hesitates. Given that he is supposedly the project leader, this is not a particularly useful skill in his acting. Jackson portrays himself, one might say, and even if he is needed at times for a momentary comic effect, the actor really works. Roundtree is needed only as an "Easter egg". Women actors, alas, are not particularly needed; they put all their strength into the roles, but the script does not allow them to realize themselves.

The banter of family members on one another may work, but at times the lazy plot ruins all efforts. The fifth film in the Shaft 4K series (and the third, which was released under this title) turns into a strange comedy with not-so-intense tensions. Ultimately, the creators thought more about predictable plot mechanics - from early murder to betrayal and sloppy battle scenes. Tough and strong men, as usual, are not affected by violence, death and even love, which leads to weak emotional involvement: it seems that this film was only an occasion for the lyrical hero of everyone beloved Samuel L. Jackson to get the opportunity to beat again scoundrels!
