Review 4K Movie
Watching every new film by Frank Capra, I am increasingly imbued with sympathy for his simple-minded stories, from which it is impossible to tear myself away. They have the drama and joy of life, they are full of sincere laughter and irony, and you always sympathize with the heroes. Let them be naive in many ways and look out-of-date, but one sometimes wants to plunge into this atmosphere of stylish and witty black-and-white cinema of the 30-40s.
Today I even looked at as many as two paintings of Capra of this era. The second, “You Can’t Take It With You,” is, in my opinion, a no less fascinating and terribly funny story about two lovers who want to get married, but the social situation, as well as the families of both, present a tangible barrier to this. And, as usual, everything goes upside down, and one ridiculous event overlaps with another. And in this film, two wonderful actors also played - the tall and handsome handsome James Stewart, who knows how to be serious and comical at the same time, and the very cute and charming Gene Arthur, so suitable for his partner.
As for Mr. Smith, this is a real hero who is desperately opposing literally all injustices, vices and selfish acts of people for whom there is nothing sacred in this life, except for profit and glory. People like him are always terribly sorry, because the idealists are alone, because the world is built so that the abnormal are normal, and the truth and truth are trampled into the mud. But Smith is not so easy to stop. And his performance is a real breakthrough, the voice of reason, faith and good. I just want to applaud. He is a simple, even narrow-minded person who cannot lie and trample his conscience, like everyone else, since he considers it wrong, contrary to the very spirit of the American people and their freedom. And he is right a thousand times, even if he himself does not at first understand how to convey the truth to people.
Having watched the film, I want to believe that somewhere else there are people like Jefferson Smith, who can boldly and without hiding say anything that he thinks, sprinkle a tub of cold water, expose, smash and ridicule the "mighty of this world." Of course, they are, but most likely they are inactive, because it is not so easy to rebel against everything and everyone, believing only in themselves and ideals. But otherwise, nothing will get off the ground. Always need a sacrifice, alas.
And it’s really worth watching the movie to be imbued with Smith’s words or at least just to listen. In any case, you will enjoy it by observing this honest eccentric and his troubles. And good actors will help you with this.
