Very annoyed by the not so recent Oscar (I confess, I was late), as always, he began to complain why all modern directors shamelessly stuff their films with African Americans for no reason. I am not the only one who is dissatisfied with this act of pseudo-tolerance for the sake of the capitalist machine of Hollywood, but it was a glorious time when we, inexperienced spectators, frankly did not give a damn about any skin color, the main thing was to play well. One of these films was 'A Trip to America', where there is practically no white character, and if there is, it is played by the most talented Edia Murphy.

Let's not delay, let's move on to the main thing.

Plot:

The plot is rather banal: the royal does not want to marry the one whom the parents have chosen and decides to find a bride for herself. Such a move has been traveled by absolutely everyone: from the animation giant Disney studio to some cheap studio consisting of 3 people in some Nizhny Zabukhalov (forgive me the inhabitants of this fictional city). But the plot in this case is just a decoration that serves to show the idea, the acting and, in the end, funny situations.

Actor play:

Of course, we all understand that we are dealing with comedy and focusing on acting when the genre requires clowning is no more than stupid, but in this film you really believe that the actors are who they play. The royal couple are simply gorgeous, although James Earl Jones seems to have been made to play royals (Mufasa, Darth Vader). I'm generally silent about Eddie Murphy: he not only played a great prince, but also a lot of cameo roles.I confess, I didn't recognize them as my favorite actor at first.

Atmosphere:

This is what a titanic work has been done. The film managed to recreate the flavor of a developed African country, which, despite its clear European influence, has not lost its charm. What is the choreography of the royal dancers alone! The troubled district of Queens, it would seem, was supposed to be a contrast to the colorful Zamunda, the harsh reality, but this place was also managed to convey the way the prince saw it. We did our best to improve the atmosphere, well done.

Jokes:

Well ... there are no words. The African prince, brought up in luxury, arrives in the most disgusting region of America: already a huge field for jokes. The creators managed to use its full potential. Thank God, there were almost no vulgar jokes below the belt and disgusting toilet humor. Here's a sample of a great American comedy.

I don’t really like the conclusion, but in the end I would like to say that this film, if it were filmed today, would be a worthy response to the notorious 'Black Panther'.
