The first time I saw the Mask of Zorro a very long time ago. Of course, then this film made a very strong impression on me. Oddly enough, since then, the Mask of Zorro has remained one of my favorite films and has taken a strong place on the shelf among collectible DVDs.

I will say right away: I also love the film with Alain Delon, but to a lesser extent. Perhaps this is due to my belonging to another generation, which definitely needs a pronounced love line. Although this is not the case. Believe me, no, but what really touches me in this film is not Elena’s affair with Alejandro-Zorro (although Katherine and Antonio made an amazingly bright couple, no doubt), but a line connected with Don Diego. And, honestly, every time I watch a movie, then in some moments tears arise by themselves. These are scenes when Elena finds out whose daughter she is, well, and the finale, of course. In my opinion, this is a very good directorial move, the enmity of the two antipodes is compounded by a kind of blood feud, the situation immediately becomes deeper than just a fight for the rights of free people and revenge for a murdered brother.

Anthony Hopkins is incomparable, Antonio Banderas did an excellent job with the role, he in the costume of Zorro is surprisingly organic, it seems you will not find the best Zorro.

The dynamics are at their best, the musical accompaniment is just above all called, the scenes with races, fights, convicts - everything is well thought out, the film looks in one breath, do not come off! there is humor, and love, and tragedy, and drama, in a word, everything that your heart desires.

I highly recommend it to all lovers of adventure movies. You will not regret. By the way, I can’t respond so well about the sequel to this film, I can’t compare with the Mask, they could have finished on this film. But this, again, is a personal opinion.
