Story Movie

A documentary about a filmmaker's attempts to finance his dream project and finish shooting a low-budget horror movie he abandoned a year ago.

Review 4K Movie

My idea of Wisconsin is based on a Lurk article. Surprisingly, this is the state where the events unfold. Mark Bordhart is a filmmaker in his 30s. He believes wholeheartedly in the ideas of independent filmmaking, and literally lives to make his own personal movie.

His family also believes in Mark's ideas: His mother, father, uncle, wife, and a whole herd of friends.

But, there's a problem: Mark gets bogged down in the chaos of producing his tape, while at the same time his life seeps into the process, and naturally everyday life adjusts the stages of the movie's production not for the better. However, Mark, with all the obvious disadvantages, and financial too, does not lose heart, but on the contrary - through the milestones of depression, protest, low self-esteem, continues to bend his line as a creator of independent cinema.

The movie very sensitively imbued me not so much with the persistence of the protagonist as with the documented atmosphere of the mid-nineties. In fact, this movie vehemently teleports to the backwoods of the united states, where the typical grown-up informal Mark, and his friends, live and create. Mark is in his 30s, has four kids, lives with his parents, his best friend is a fat metalhead, and his only hobbies are an obsession with B-grade horror movies. This life is quite interesting to watch, especially if you share Mark's interests. The panorama of the life of the gore-director makes you treat him in two ways, on the one hand you begin to respect the man.

Is it a thing? Six years of work, constant failures, and yet a selfless desire to finish the work. On the other hand: We see a typical infantile person, who in absentia chose the path of rebellion, and in the middle of the progressive world continues to live a life of fantasy and obsession. But, there is a silver lining.

Mark, for all the downsides of his life, has tremendous support from family and friends. Show me one of those in the present day? You betcha. Again, the movie does a good job of revealing the essence of the life of those very great-aged slackers, and from the best side, (Mark's friends, though they don't avoid beer binges, but they are not prone to fierce destructiveness), there is a moment of familiarity with a cross-section of the era - the life of the middle class of the mid-nineties.

And finally the premise is Obsession/Dream. Bordhart climbs against the downward escalator of realizing a major dream, and eventually achieving the desired one. Which leaves a very quality 'aftertaste' after the movie. Moral: Failed in life - follow your dreams, and work, work, work. People will appreciate it.
