Review 4K Movie
Scientist Alithea Binnie trusts only facts and science. All her conscious life she has been single. No family, no children, but there was a husband. And he's no longer around. One day while traveling through bizarre Istanbul, she wanders into a market of exquisite objects. Among the rarities she chooses a vessel Bulbul. Clearing it of filth, Alithea - by accident - frees a genie. Getting to know him is an unnecessary waste of time for her, for Alitea has everything and needs nothing. However, the genie takes his time saying goodbye to her and tells her about former mistresses and masters who have paid for not granting her wishes. Or explains the consequences in wishing.
The cast: two mastodons (closely overlapping in the Marvel universe) appeared on the same set, thanks to George Miller (creator of 'Mad Max'). This can't help but be gratifying.
For starters. Idris Elba is my favorite actor who definitely doesn't slap any dirt on me. In those moments when he's only talking and not performing any facial facial expressions, he's truly a genius genie. Not Will Smith, of course (with all due respect to his idol, I think Elba is a better genie). So, as the narrative progresses, we realize that this is a modern interpretation of Arabic fairy tales, especially when it comes to adult themes that children will obviously not understand. All of Elba's hero's misfortunes come from his love for women who did not consider him a faithful friend. So the servant will pay for the loyalty of the first queen, whose love was given to another. And in the table of contents of 'The Oblivion of Jin' he could not reach the naïve Gulden at all. The character has endured many years of confinement and always knows the price of desire.
However, the same concept of granting wishes owns the heroine Tilda Swinton, who (as already said) is lonely by nature and in life. Pohod film we are immersed in the difficult work of the 'grantor of desires', and the conversations of the main characters interspersed with excursions into time immemorial. Swinton was able to convey all the wisdom and primness of her own convictions. At some points, her character begins to rave about the leads, who don't just stop by for tea. She is sure they are caveats. She thinks she has no problems on the personal front, and most importantly that everything is fine with her. Alithea forgets that everyone wishes for something. And Jean hints at this in great detail. She has a difficult choice to make. And first of all, come to terms with the fact that mythology does not always translate into scientific proof of the existence of genies, sorcerers, gods or superheroes (incidentally, the theme of mythology in the comics will be brought up at the very beginning of the film).
Everything else: George Miller, after a seven-year respite, returned home - his native cinema with an adaptation of the story of British writer Antonia Susan Byatt's story "Genie in a bottle of glass 'nightingale eye'" (published in 1994 and instantly attracted Miller's attention). In fact, he nurtured the idea for a very long time and until we got Furiosa spin-off from 'Mad Max' (the main role was to play Anya Taylor-Joy) decided to take a break. Indulge us and himself at the same time. After all, no one has let him make a movie for 30 years. Fortunately this time he was lucky enough to shoot a strip of his own script. And co-authored with his daughter Augusta Gore.
The film focuses on the modern world, confined within the four walls of an Istanbul hotel. Only small locations await us from this world: subway cars, a back yard and an 'almost' uninhabited park. I haven't read the book, but I think it's a terrific move to do a 'story within a story'. Usually in these cases, Gina's characters rarely talk about their former hosts in full color. Much less about their feelings for the weaker female gender. And, one more thing makes the movie unique - it is the heroine, who is satisfied with everything, but begins to learn to live as a grown-up child, and truly to love.
The film will raise the theme of rejected outcasts in love. As well as a philosophical parable about free will.
The tape is divided into three stories about a biblical king, a sultan, and a third one that emerged in the 19th century.
Impressions: Miller explores the theme of the Oriental tales of the 'Thousand and One Nights' from within. Except that he did not think that the conclusion that prompted the characters (based on the stories of the genie) immediately spoils all the charm of the picture. A sad movie with a good ending. And, most importantly, remember, find a bottle of Gin, then avoid wishing you didn't have to!
