Story Movie
One night Luke, drunk, decided to have some fun and used a gas wrench to screw a dozen pennies into a parking lot, for which he got two years of road construction work in the Southern states. Back during the war he had tested his fate many times, and prison was the next test Luke seemed to be looking for...
For his stubborn and tenacious character, Luke earned from his fellow inmates the respectful nickname Luke the Cold-Blooded, and with it the hatred of the camp wardens for his desire for freedom and unruly temper. Three escapes, three arrests and three cruel punishments did not break his will to live, he became a hero to the other prisoners, a lone hero, who put himself against the system ...
Review 4K Movie
The story of the hero of the movie "Cold-Blooded Luke" is sad. Not even because it is a prison story and such stories are never funny in principle. But because it is an illustration of the phrase "what you fight for, you get what you get". Along with the main character of the film, in that prison there were people who deserved what they got, with 20-year sentences, even with life sentences. But among them there was no one equal to him. The miscellaneous dregs of society were many, but Coldblooded Luke was one.
It was a respectful nickname given to the prisoner, Lucas Jackson, for his character, which no one could immediately discern. This man would stoically stand up even though he was turned into a chop in a fight, swallow fifty eggs for an hour on a dare, win money without a trump card... and it all started when he got tipsy and started breaking parking meters. Hooligan. Rebel nonconformist with an iron character, a steely determination-- a very combustible mix.
He snapped when his mother died and ran away.
This man was not noted for his piety and his fear of the Almighty was not in him, as was eloquently confirmed in one scene when, in a downpour, he demanded the Lord to prove that He was. Then he said: "I guess I'm just getting wet in the rain and talking to myself..." All the more interesting is the scene in the church. The director of the film can be compared to a builder: first he lays the foundation of the character, and then, in the final scene, "completes" it, fully revealing Luke to the viewer. The fugitive's monologue in the church is very impressive in terms of emotional intensity.
Among the prisoners who knew him, Luke becomes a semi-legendary character, and it is said that he was born to shock the world. And I guess if anyone is capable of shaking up the stale swamp of creation for good, it's people like that. The viewer is attracted to Luke by his strong character, and he inspires respect, if not admiration. It is impossible to treat him indifferently. Some will condemn him for this rebellion, some will sympathize, some will warmly approve. And all would be thank goodness, if he had not done himself harm. Such men are irreplaceable. They can be used in reconnaissance without looking, they can be taken to risky and dangerous jobs, they are either adored with all their hearts, or hated, there is no third choice. Hate from his jailers, Luke has swallowed a handful of it.
This story is unusual for its main character, who has an unbendingly strong will, and who became a victim of his irrepressible character. And yet Cold Blooded Luke is more than just a film about a prisoner with a violent temper. It makes you think. What was the point of this guy ripping on his shirt and going up against everyone? It's childish, a scandal for the sake of a scandal, a rebellion for the sake of a rebellion. The institution of the state didn't come from Mars and rape society. All people live by certain rules ... and they live quite well.
But we should not lose sight of the idea that people are just too used to the daily costs that they do not pay attention to them. That's why they're slowly being discriminated against in different places. And they're used to it. And such guys are rewarded by public opinion with a skeptical diagnosis of "what the hell for?" So do the first, second, third, fifth, tenth, hundredth citizens... And in the end the whole country comes to the disappointing conclusion that there is no reason to fight and act as you see fit. And that is why the expression "country of slaves, country of masters" is so popular. A slave cannot understand a free man. Especially a free man who fights selflessly and is willing to endure deprivation and live on bread and water in the name of freedom.
And the viewer, who was touched by this story, will for a long time remember the face of a blue-eyed handsome man with a piercing, defiant look, who, beginning with breaking the meters, came to a very bad outcome for himself and only once again demonstrated what such search for another system of values leads to, when in the blinding, intoxicating thirst for freedom you can turn to a road that has never made anyone happier. Such people, who are not afraid to call things by their proper names and do as they see fit, will never be found, and they will always be the bitterest enemies of all forms of stagnation, subjugation and slavery. And I guess freedom will not be devalued as long as there are guys like Cool-blooded Luke who cannot be broken or subjugated.
