Review 4K Movie

Trains, trains... “O la la!”, as the French say.

Under the monotonous rustle of the railroad wheels, they wind the thread of the railroad bed, they take someone away, others return, they carry with them the memory of a hundred mysterious stories and secrets, of thousands of people, but they know how to be silent. Trains...

There is something half-forgotten and cozy in the fact that for a while you share your life with strangers, passengers of the same train, who by chance happened to be in the same carriage with you. But be careful! What can hide a benevolent smile, a good-natured look or a polite caution? . There may always be something else lurking behind what you see ...

Agatha Christie is a master of riddles: “Orient Express”, caught in snow drifts, a murder, thirteen suspects and the famous detective Hercule Poirot, traveling on the same train ... Cards shuffled, it remains to spread solitaire. Fact to fact, evidence to evidence, carefully, without hurry... It is said that the famous Belgian preferred solitaire solitaire card houses. But can we anticipate Poirot? Probably not. Lady Agatha is a master not only of riddles, but also of giving clear, reasoned answers, after which you realize that the deck was really in your hands.

Perhaps, such movies should be watched in the true English spirit: in the evening twilight, cozily wrapped in a warm blanket, with rain pounding in the windows. Oh, how I love such evenings with their atmosphere of surprising importance of everything that happens! But even if you sit down to watch it on a warm, sunny day, the intrigue of the movie will undoubtedly draw you in completely, leading Poirot to an unpredictable, and yet so explainable, solution.

Director Sidney Lumet in his adaptation has grasped the essence of the work of the incomparable Agatha Christie: it is important not only to find the killer, having the necessary evidence, but also to bear the moral responsibility for the final decision, remembering about justice. This responsibility will be entrusted to Poirot, in some ways funny, like a child, in other cunning and dangerous opponent. His role was played by Albert Finney, revealing to us Hercule Poirot somewhat different from the performance of David Souché, who embodied if not the only possible, then, in any case, unquestionable image of the famous detective, to which many (including me) have become accustomed. But contrary to any habits, it should be recognized that Albert Finney created an interesting, truthful, strong, memorable, and most importantly, a distinctive image of Poirot.

As for the superb performers in the other roles, they fit perfectly into the vision of the exciting, thoroughbred detective. This is one of those movies where nothing is out of place or spoils it. There is another characteristic that can't help but go to its credit, an English atmospheric feel that helps the viewer, who is trying to figure out who the killer is and whether Hercule Poirot can solve this crime, to get swept up in the action. The reader who knows the answers will probably smile slyly. Eh bien, eh bien, eh bien, eh bien, eh bien, eh bien, eh bien, eh bien, eh bien, eh bien, eh bien, eh bien.

“Eh bien,” as Monsieur Poirot would say.
