Review 4K Movie

When it comes to 'The Sixth Sense', many people rush to mention the unexpected denouement. In most cases, it is this element that figures among the main pluses of the picture. And what to hide, few of us could assume such a finale at the first viewing in 1999. Shyamalan's picture introduced the fashion for films with unexpected endings, and its considerable box office owes its finale The viewer went repeatedly to theaters trying to understand how he was so cleverly circled around his finger, and much surprised by the huge number of skillfully veiled clues, unnoticeable at first viewing.

The presence of such a plot twist can do the movie a disservice: it's not that uncommon for us to be disappointed in a picture on repeat viewings. Very often the narrative is incredibly cheesy, exploding five minutes before the finale. It's hard to tell if Knight layered the plot on the final picture or if the ending was the logical conclusion of the story. But it is not so important, because he managed to create a movie that will be interesting to watch for the tenth time. On subsequent viewings, you notice not only the clues, but also marvel at how Shyamalan the screenwriter put together elements that had been used many times before, and Shyamalan the director brilliantly brought them to life.

It would seem that we have a typical ghost story in front of us. The director scares us a thousand times in the tried and tested ways: a drop in temperature, steam from the mouth, some movement in the foreground (background), a handprint on the table... But somehow in Shyamalan's movie these elements look really scary, and one cannot say that the director uses secondary moves. In 1999 Knight wasn't chasing himself in an attempt to outdo the previous film in visual terms, so he concentrated on slowly but surely building up the suspense, and the actors made you believe in their characters and worry about them.

'The Sixth Sense' is not so much a thriller as a mystical horror with a large dose of drama. The latter element is largely achieved because of the excellent acting of the main character (no, it's not Bruce Willis). Haley Joel Osment without any screams, yells, tears and snot brilliantly played a child who is scared every day, every minute and every second. And the worst part is that he doesn't know how to fight it. In whatever movies Osment goes on to make, whatever roles he plays, he is doomed to be compared to his work in this picture. The rest of the actors play well, but are completely lost against Hale's background.

In 1999, Night Shyamalan woke up famous, cut a window into Hollywood and made tons of money. Despite the fact that later four more pictures were born, each of which was received ambiguously, it is “The Sixth Sense” to date remains the best work of the most famous Hindu in Hollywood.
