A philosophy student is attacked by a vampire right on the street. Of course, immediately after that, irreversible changes begin to occur in her body and mind.

But what is interesting: the girl's intellectual potential only grows, new abilities allow her to defend her thesis. However, the defense party turns into a bloody orgy.

Directed by Abel Ferrara (especially after 'Bad Lieutenant' and 'The King of New York'), in addition Christopher Walken's name among the performers meant only one thing, a must-see.

An interesting beginning made up for the temporary absence of my favorite star. Black and white image, night city with its subways, cabs, bus stops, shop windows, black rappers and other attributes of the industrialization era. Plus some good music. I loved it!

Then metamorphosis began to happen to the protagonist in connection with the plot twists. She changes physiologically, her outlook on things, nihilism and Nietzschean motifs (ideas of superhumanity) blossom. She begins to despise her surroundings, former friends and teachers, feels herself superior to others, special. And these feelings give rise to impunity and permissiveness. Constant positioning of her developmentalism causes controversial feelings, one could even say irritation. Terribly wanted to finally see K. Walken. The main heroine caused a distinct feeling of rejection, the storyline associated with her lost all interest.

K.Walken does not save the movie. His role is five minutes long, but he is good here. Trim, well-dressed, handsome, intelligent. An actor with noble looks and manners, he makes a deeply favorable impression. He puts the girl in her place as convincingly as is even possible. If the task of Lili Taylor was to portray a genius, then K.Walken should be even more brilliant. And he succeeds! His character reeks of the farthest reaches, if not boundlessness.

Then there was that defense day party. When 'addiction' reveals its true nature. The genius has fallen before the banal lust for satiation. Filmed in a very dark tone, the black and white image shades the pallor of human flesh, its fragility, just meat and beasts. In general, the eating scene resembles a rape scene. It is unpleasant to watch.

In general, the movie is ambiguous, but it has a number of findings. Not everyone can be recommended to watch it.
