Story Movie

1986. Andrei Evilenko combines all the most disgusting and terrible qualities of a Soviet citizen and human being in general. He is kicked out of school for seducing female students, after which he gets a job at the railroad department. In his new job he spends most of his time writing complaints against his colleagues, and in the evenings he walks the empty streets of a small provincial town in search of new victims. Now he not only rapes children, but also brutally kills them, and sometimes even eats the bodies. Investigator Vadim Leziev for a long eight years trying to find a crazy serial killer, but he is too clever and cunning to leave any traces. However, one day he manages to get on the trail of a psychopath.

The movie does not try to frighten the viewer, to show horrible bloody scenes of violence and murder, but rather traces Chikatilo's path from murder to murder. One gets the feeling that such a somewhat detached biographical description of Chikatilo's 'murderous' years is aimed at showing the horror of his deeds in such an ordinary and everyday way. It feels like it could be happening somewhere nearby.

McDowell is at his best as always, the roles of maniacs he plays flawlessly. This movie is worth watching at least for the sake of his game.
