Review 4K Movie

I learned about this film, as well as the 1932 film ‘The Scarface’, from the biographical film about Howard Hughes, ‘The Aviator’. To be honest, this film immediately caught my interest. So much effort, time, and money (it was the most expensive film of its time) had been spent on it, and finally I got to see it with my own eyes.

This dramatic, tragic story tells the story of two pilots during World War I. It shows how it all began (the time before the war) and, of course, the war itself through the eyes of these two pilots. In general, the plot does not play a significant role throughout the film. The beauty of this film lies in its ending. It is there that the whole human essence is revealed, the concepts of valor and honor, cowardice and bravery. The complete contrast of the two brothers' opinions in the face of mortal danger. Overall, the ending is simply superb, but the film itself is a bit drawn out. The plot develops slowly, focusing on certain moments, while the main idea of the film remains undisclosed. There are several moments that could have been shortened or cut out altogether to make the film an hour and a half long, but in the end, it turned out to be a real airplane saga.

This film has undoubtedly made a contribution to world cinema, primarily by introducing the world to Howard Hughes as a director, not just a producer. It was Howard Hughes' first and, perhaps, only film, apart from his 1943 film Outlaw. It is clear that Hughes put all his energy and soul into this film, which is why he was unable to make anything else of note.
The film is also notable for its scale. In those years, it was a real breakthrough. I can't imagine how it was possible to film aerial battles in those days. There must have been cameras on every plane to create the effect of a real battle and to avoid the impression that you were watching toy planes flying in front of you instead of real combat machines.
Another very good idea was to introduce the Multicolor system into this film, that is, drawing various shades of green and red on the screen. It looks very cool. Especially the ten minutes with the airship, where everything was filmed masterfully. Although, while the score was shown on the screen, it looked a little silly, as if everything had been colored in after the film, which gave the impression that these were not real people, but drawn figures.

Overall, the film is quite good, and anyone who considers themselves a film buff simply must see it, but others are better off not bothering, as there is nothing special about this film in terms of today's technology.
