Twins Reggie and Ronnie Kray were iconic figures in the British underworld of the 1960s. The brothers led the most powerful gang in the East End. Their record included armed robberies, racketeering, arson, assassination attempts, murders and their own nightclub, where even Hollywood celebrities reached. Among their victims were criminal masterminds Jack McVittie and George Cornell.

Watching this film led me to two conclusions—the meanings embedded in the film.

Many reviewers write about the weak, inexpressive performance of the main character. In my opinion, she realistically showed what happens to young girls who are looking for a prince who will save them from all their problems. At the beginning, she demonstrates at least some ambition—to fulfill herself in her chosen profession, confidently opposing her mother in her choice of life partner. But after marriage, she slips into resentment and a childish position. And she suffers a collapse.

Second, the film shows how psychologically immature parents (in the film, this is illustrated by the example of mothers) can have a detrimental effect on the fate and decisions of their children. The charismatic, businesslike, and competent Reggie could have made his life a role model—a beautiful wife, a successful club business, and a large number of useful and productive social connections. If only for one thing: if only he hadn't followed his mother's advice that we are responsible for the behavior, actions, and misfortunes of our relatives.
