The film tells the story of the complicated relationship between two women living in New York in the 1950s. One of them is a very young saleswoman who dreams of something more, and the other is a married woman who suffers from a lack of love.

Carol (Cate Blanchett) is a wealthy woman going through a divorce with her husband. She is refined, elegant, and charming.

Tereza (Rooney Mara) is a young saleswoman who wants to become a photographer. She is just starting out on her own and trying to understand herself.

Harj (Kyle Chandler) is Carol's husband, who is very emotional, loves his wife madly, and suffers from the situation.

Abby (Sarah Paulson) is Carol's childhood friend who supports her in everything, respects all her decisions, and is reliable and sympathetic.

This is just an incredible film that I loved with all my heart. A vivid and sensual film with excellent visuals and beautiful music. There are only two bed scenes, but throughout almost the entire film, you can feel the sensual heat and depth of emotions, even though all the characters are quite reserved on the outside.

The time period in which the story is set influences the development of the plot: a conservative society that perceives non-traditional relationships as a disease. But the manipulation of feelings to get what you want is as old as the world itself, and here it takes on a particularly repulsive form, as it shows what it means to truly love and touches on the theme of motherhood.

The last scenes gave me goosebumps. Cate is simply incredible; it's impossible not to succumb to her charm. I saw Rooney in the film “The Book of Eli,” and I didn't like her there (or rather, not her, but the film itself), but here the actress is very good and natural.

People who are negative about same-sex relationships should probably give this film a miss. But for everyone else, I highly recommend it. It's very beautiful, very emotional, and very profound, conveying one main idea: the importance of understanding and finding yourself.
