The film was a real shock to me. Before watching it, I had no idea what this masterpiece was about. I only knew that Robert De Niro and Robin Williams starred in it, and that's why I bought the DVD.

To be honest, I didn't expect anything from watching this film, I thought Robbie's role would be forgettable, but thank God I was wrong.

Awakenings is somewhat reminiscent of films such as One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest and Planet Ka-Pex, but despite this, it is in no way inferior to the aforementioned films, and in some respects even surpasses them, especially Planet Ka-Pex.

First of all, it's worth mentioning that the film is incredibly moving; when I watched it, I simply couldn't help but be touched. The film's poignancy is supported by the direction, the script, and the actors. And how could I not mention the beautiful and stirring music? All these elements of the film are executed with great finesse. This is especially true of the acting. It is impossible not to mention the brilliant performances of Williams and De Niro, which cannot fail to touch the soul. Robert plays his best role since Raging Bull here. I have no idea why this great actor did not receive his Oscar.

I won't retell the plot, as it would only spoil this masterpiece. Suffice it to say that the film is filled with a huge number of brilliant moments. Take, for example, the scene where De Niro's character dances with a girl—it brought tears to my eyes.

It's important to note that this film awakens all the bright sides, all the best sides of our essence, and that's wonderful. And if you found “Awakenings” too boring and sluggish, then you're from another planet, in my opinion.
