After Chris Nielsen’s death in a car accident, he gains immortality and tries to stay close to his beautiful but mortal wife, Annie. With the help of a friendly spirit assigned to him as a guide, he begins to adjust to his new existence in a setting that can only be described as paradise. But when his grief-stricken wife takes her own life, she is cursed and banished to hell for all eternity. Chris tries with all his might to find his beloved so he can be with her forever, but no one has ever succeeded in saving a sinful soul from this terrible—yet deserved—punishment. With the help of his heavenly friends, Chris embarks on the most dangerous and agonizing journey of his life—or rather, of his afterlife.

Yes, it’s a disturbing film. It’s as if someone were trying to depict heaven and the afterlife. I once saw something like this in a cult. A mad vision of something that doesn’t exist and can’t possibly exist. But there’s a basis for this madness. A substantial basis.

Madness is recklessness, a lack of logic or caution in actions or statements (Wiktionary). There is a lot of recklessness in our film… reckless musing. It clearly lacks any logic whatsoever. There is no caution here in anything except love for loved ones.

It is often the case that madness is built on something solid that cannot be destroyed. Madness bends facts and circumstances to fit our dream… the dream of love. That is why it is difficult to deal with madness and with mad people. In part, we are all mad; we act recklessly and without obvious logic.

We are often careless in our actions and words, which frequently leads to many, many sins. It seems that the problem of our heroes—their misfortune—lies in the fact that they build their world around the transitory, while forgetting the Imperishable, the True. And therein lies the fundamental madness of this world.

They cast aside the cornerstone, rejected it. And they began to build skyscrapers of straw on sand. And the waters came in mighty waves, and hurricanes and tornadoes came... and great upheavals. And everything crumbled, faster than a house of cards. And this is sad, and because of this, one doesn’t want to watch this movie.

Our film is beautiful, just as a dying person on their deathbed somehow becomes more beautiful—as if it were a gift from God.
