High school student Donnie Darko lives in the late 80s and has big problems. He walks in a dream, performs actions that defy explanation and communicates with a mysterious creature dressed as a huge rabbit. What is this - one of the stages of schizophrenia or a sign of the upcoming Apocalypse?
Or maybe it's a vicious circle leading to one day, someone's fate is already predetermined. You can make a choice by changing everything, but which one is correct?

Richard Kelly managed to shoot a film so diverse that Donnie Darko is hard to attribute to one of the genre's subtypes. It's all together, so to speak, in one bottle: teenage drama, science fiction, psychological thriller, political statement.

The film is filled with deep philosophical meaning, and many phrases only confirm this. Here are just a few of them:

"All creatures on Earth die alone."

"If you look through the mirror, you can see your ego."

"The spectrum of human feelings cannot be divided only into black and white."

Donnie Darko is an example of a person who thinks and who is ready to take responsibility for his actions. In the finale, he makes a serious decision and finds only one "place without suffering and pain." Well, that was his moral choice ...
In fact, Darko is practically no different from an ordinary teenager: he, like everyone else, is faced with internal problems of growing up, conflicts with teachers, misunderstanding of parents, brainwashing with all sorts of television programs (which preach all kinds of dregs), etc.

The moment is shown very interestingly, how the spring moves people and predetermines their actions.
The actors played very well, especially of course Jake Gyllenhaal, who perfectly showed the character of Donnie Darko.

The film is not only worth watching, but also to understand and comprehend.
