Good film adaptation of Jane Austen. literally from the first minutes of the film, accidentally seen, took the program and stopped clicking the channels, because she suspected that it was Austen's film. Sense and Sensibility was the only novel of hers at the time that I hadn’t read. From this we can conclude that the author's style has been preserved in this production. As well as the calm, somewhat minor, key.

I can give Emma Thomson a huge plus for the script, and (after reading the book) minus for the fact that she herself took on the role of Eleanor, which Jane Austen describes as follows: intelligence and calm judgment, which allowed her to become an advisor to her mother at the age of nineteen ”. That is, a sensible 19-year-old girl, in this production, turned into a sensible old maid, which it is quite possible to be like that.

The very story of the opposition of a sense of duty and passionate love is conveyed in an ideal manner. Yes, life, alas, is not a fairy tale. And a well-bred girl should think about her behavior and about her future.

I really liked Kate Winslet as Marianne. Romantic and gentle, capable of enchanting and herself enchanted by the whole world.

Alan Rickman was just great for this role. The fit colonel even smoothes out the huge difference in age between him and Marianne.

Hugh Grant - shy and somewhat clumsy, but decently correct played exactly the way it was supposed to.

Supporting roles, dialogues, the hilly nature of England, music - everything was in place. The only drawback of the film, as I wrote above, can be considered the age of Emma Thompson. In all other respects, this is a truly wonderful production of the classics.
