Detroit, 1995. A brilliant and promising policy of industrial development in the city fails and leads to chaos and confusion, resulting in one of the most serious conflicts in American history between whites and people of color. People who lived peacefully side by side find themselves on opposite sides of the barricades.

The 8 Mile Highway, separating Detroit from the suburbs, becomes the dividing line between blacks and whites. What's happening in the city is reflected in the music. In the poor suburban neighborhoods, where survival is the main goal, for many residents hip-hop becomes an emotional outlet, a means of escaping the harsh reality of everyday life.

Review 4K Movie

As a kid I thought it was just a biography of Eminem, and then I just realized that it's a fictional story that's a bit inspired by the great rapper's biography.

The plot of the movie is basically about how the main character Rabbit (that's his nickname) tries to start believing in himself and goes about fulfilling his musical dream. Only the movie doesn't end with stadiums and millions of dollars, because it all takes place in the harsh reality of no money, unemployment in the city, and conflicts and shootings between white guys and black guys. The heroes in the course of the film, along with the viewer acquires the realization that their dreams should be realized here and now, and not wait for a lucky break.

Acting. Eminem played himself, because he was also growing up as a white boy among black people, he lived in a trailer, etc. That's why it's his role, because it's about him. Brittany Murphy is cool too, even though she has a pretty complicated character. I also got a kick out of Basinger, who played Bunny's mother. She turned out to be a cool heroine. Who in spite of all her flaws remains a mother to the end.

Another big plus to the movie is the atmosphere. Detroit looks very cool, as do the characters' costumes. Everything is believable. I would describe the scenery of the time as poor, but very classy.

Music. A clear rap about complicated life, and the OST in general a masterpiece. It won the Oscar for a reason!
