Story Movie

City of the Living Dead 4K 1980 ITALIAN Ultra HD 2160p
During a séance, a medium woman saw the city of Dunwich, where the gates of hell were about to open. She fell into lethargy from horror and was almost buried alive. Already out of the grave she was dug out by a journalist or a private detective, and the two of them went in search of the terrible city to prevent disaster. Meanwhile, in Danwich, the dead were coming back to life, it was raining cadaver worms, the girl vomited out all her insides when she saw the ghost, and one boy had his head drilled out on a loom.

Review 4K Movie

I don't understand the enthusiastic comments about this film. Of course, the film is above average: it is atmospheric, it runs without sagging, it keeps the tension in the audience perfectly, but it is necessary to admit that there are also minuses in it, and they are not few.

Yes, some memorable scenes are very effective... Yes, the make-up and the music is great, getting on your nerves. Yes, the style and atmosphere of the cursed little town is very well portrayed. But there are a lot of BUTs... Let's try to get to the bottom of it...

First of all, the title does not correspond to what we saw. The living dead do not rule the ball here in their classical image and appearance, as, for example, in Flesh Eaters (Zombie 2) of the same director, and some infernal demons (the priest - sotona!) which possess the ability to disappear and appear in unexpected places as ghosts, and for some reason they prefer to hunt for brains (only once eating flesh was shown).

Secondly, some of the scenes in the film, such as the drilling of the head, seem to have been deliberately invented only for the spectacular demonstration of violence out of connection with the main narrative. What kind of a crazy father would take such pleasure in doing away with a poor kid, even though he never touched his daughter?

Thirdly, many parts of the movie have logical inconsistencies: for example, the rain of worms in other parts of the city as if they had not existed, as if they had evaporated. The impression is also spoiled by the sloppy, hastily made editing, too abrupt interruptions of such high-quality oppressive music and other technical inaccuracies.

At last, the final part of the film is unattractive. Couldn't the screenwriters come up with something more original than ripping open the belly of the main horror of Dunwich for the victory of the forces of Good? And what's with the rambling unhappy ending with the boy running for his life?

To summarize, horror fans are likely to enjoy this film, but nevertheless it is not the best film by the world-famous classic Lucio Fulci.
