So, despite the huge, both box office and critics success of the famous psychological thriller from the master of suspense of all times and peoples, Alfred Hitchcock, 'Psychosis', the creators for some unknown reason, delayed with the sequel, not much, not a few, as much as 23 years. But finally they had an epiphany, and decided to create a sequel to the sensational in its former glorious time, a hit. First of all, it should be said that the producers approached the filming of the picture, extremely responsibly and did not shoot everything on the principle of 'slap-dash', and attracted to create a picture of the real experts in the business (that's how the creators of the miserable 'Freddy vs. Jason' and should have approached the filming, and not sit in the director's chair the first bum from the dump). Well, in the director's chair producers sat Australian Richard Franklin, the same one who was trained in the film school Alfred Hitchcock. Moreover, the maestro himself, repeatedly called Richard one of the most talented of his 'mentees'. This is what prompted the producers to choose his candidacy, and they did not miss. Plus, Franklin has long been known in his homeland, thanks to successful commercially thrillers 'Patrick' and 'Road Games'.

Next, about the screenwriter. Here the producers also made the right move, entrusting the writing of the story to a promising playwright Tom Holland, before that noted hit 'Class of 1984', and later, a pretty good adaptation of Stephen King, 'The Slimmer' and a good horror movie about ghouls, with a bizarre name 'Fright Night'. And it must be said that Holland turned out to be a really fantastic screenwriter, managing to twist the plot to the max. As a result, the creators came out spectacular, mesmerizing, fascinating psychological thriller, not outdated even after so many years. From the cast, of course, the most strongly stands out so incidentally returned from the original picture, Anthony Perkins. He was just flawlessly given the role of slowly going crazy, frightened nervous man, who does not understand where the truth, and where - not. For him, unlike the first part, you worry. You feel sorry for him. He doesn't know who he can trust and whether he himself is to blame for the bloody nightmare. All the above mentioned by me, puts 'Psycho-2' on a high enough level, quite worthy of its famous predecessor. A high level of suspense, uninterrupted agonizing anticipation of horror and an unexpected denouement.

This movie is certainly not the highest level of Alfred Hitchcock, but an excellent, spectacular thriller, making an impression even now, in times when cheesy, lousy black comedies have supplanted the really high-quality, spectacular, tense genre of horror. It will sound quite hackneyed, but that's not the way they make movies nowadays.
