Psycho IV: The Beginning 4K 1990 Ultra HD 2160p
Norman Bates' birthday. Norman is listening to the radio while waiting for his wife to come home from work. She is a psychoanalyst and met him while he was in a mental institution. Norman's rehabilitation process seems to be going well. But all seemed well only until he found out she was pregnant. Norman believes his problems are a genetic predisposition, so he does not want to have children, fearing that they will grow up to be the same psychopaths.

Review 4K Movie

This prequel is a very good conclusion to the story of Norman Bates. The movie looks very easy and in one breath. There is no detective line as in the first two parts. There are no mental torments and breakdowns of a sick psyche as in the third. Only step-by-step narration of episodes of his first murders and gradual leading to the denouement, to his last murder.

It will have nothing to do with his mother. He's done with 'both' in previous installments. It's nice to see Norm in his right mind, but all these incomprehensible flashbacks, which make him feel sicker than ever before, make it very hard to understand such a mental breakdown of a perfectly healthy man.

Norm doesn't even look much like himself at the beginning of the movie. Confident voice, look, demeanor. Not a shadow of his former timidity. It's kind of uncomfortable to see him so confident. But after heart-wrenching stories on the phone on the radio, the former feelings and emotions overwhelm him and the image of the same timid Norman Bates appears before us.

At the end of the story it is incomprehensible why Norm goes to kill his wife in his mother's house, runs after her with a knife, and then runs away from the visions of his former first victims. Perhaps the authors wanted to show that Norman was able to resist to the end the factors of dependence on his mother, on prejudices, on nightmares.

As I said, the movie is a light and beautiful conclusion to the story of Norman Bates, seemingly leaving no questions.

It's even kind of symbolic that Psycho 4 is one of the last roles of the wonderful actor Anthony Perkins.

A brilliant beginning must have an equally brilliant end, gentlemen.
