The movie 'Fascination' is remembered by vivid visual images: ladies in old-fashioned clothes in a slaughterhouse, girls dancing on a bridge, two girls in white and a guy in red, a mysterious women's meeting in an old castle, where everyone is in black and red clothes until midnight, and at midnight they change into special clothes, a girl in a black cloak on her bare body with a scythe (for cutting grass).

There is not much logic in the movie. For example, when the heroine named Eva goes out to meet the armed men, Mark (the main character) fears that she will be killed. But when the girl returns unharmed, he doesn't even ask her the questions expected in this situation: 'How did it go? Why didn't they hurt you?

Mark is characterized by a self-assuredness bordering on bluntness, and is convinced that anything dangerous must look dangerous. And anything that doesn't look dangerous is definitely harmless. He ignores all warnings. And curiosity keeps him on his toes!

This is a movie in the 'man finds himself in a dangerous place' series. As in Jean Rollin's other movie 'The Iron Rose', there are no ghosts or vampires, only people, some of whom are no longer adequate and therefore dangerous.

'Fascination' emphasizes on aesthetics and mood rather than an elaborate plot and dialogues.

Personally, this movie didn't make me seriously worry about any of the heroes or heroines, I was just curious how certain situations would end.

'Fascination' is definitely a movie for fans. A fan of scary stories with a romantic bent, taking place in ancient castles. This movie is close in spirit to some vampire movies.
