“Trick 'r Treat” brings us back to the times when the plot of thrillers was based on urban legends and mystical events, a subgenre of movies that stands out not only for the plots borrowed from the above-mentioned sources, but also for some features that make it strikingly different from its brethren.

This movie, as is clear from the title, takes as a basis a holiday called “All Saints' Day Eve”. In Hollywood, this is generally a very hot topic, you can remember about 15 movies, in one way or another related to the pagan celebration. The basis of the movie are four spooky stories on “Halloween”, connected with each other by one small detail - in each of them there is a mysterious person, a really incomprehensible creature that looks like a child in a traditional holiday costume. But the child is unusual at all, more like a devil of hell, one look of which will shock the maturing braves.

Each story shows completely different people and different situations, but so well that your lower jaw drops to the foot area and does not return to its original position until the final credits roll. This is one of those movies that you want to watch twice, maybe even three times. And there is an explanation for that: first of all, the impeccable visual style that pleases the eye. Leaves quietly moving in the night wind, bright garlands decorating the houses, a huge number of pumpkins with carved faces - everything looks just perfect. Secondly, all the stories are cleverly merged into one, the line between them that appears at the beginning is erased. Now it's one cohesive storyline where the characters of the other five are intertwined. Well, and finally, it is simply mesmerizingly scary, frightening in its realism and mystery.

Perhaps the most extraordinary horror movie of recent years.
