Review 4K Movie

The "Halloween" franchise can, without any hesitation, be called the longest-lived horror franchise. Its irreplaceable producer Mustafa Akkad must have been exhausted from producing the sequels himself, but as they say, demand breeds supply, and by the beginning of the 21st century, the Halloween stampede was on the rise. Unfortunately, stampede is the worst word for the movie industry.

We all remember Halloween 3: Witch Season, which was almost officially dubbed "the worst Halloween without Michael Myers." My point is this. Halloween 8: Resurrection can now proudly wear the title "Worst Halloween with Michael Myers." This is getting nowhere, folks. The movie is frankly a failure and I will try to explain why.

First, the plot. It's not a plot, it's a poor excuse for a plot. It used to be that in any sane Halloween movie, Myers had a purpose -- he'd kill either his sister or his niece, i.e., family members. Here, however, he has no purpose at all. Might as well have put someone else in here instead of Myers, and no one would have noticed anything. Typical rank horror movie.

Second, the death of Myers' sister. Worst episode of the movie. I couldn't have imagined the death of Jamie Lee Curtis' heroine like this: the stupidest death and the stupidest justification for Myers' resurrection. The peculiarly remade ending of the previous part looks frankly pulled by the ears. No suspense, no suspense, no suspense.

Third, the movie has absolutely worthless actors. Halloween sequels used to have Donald Pleasance, Josh Hartnett, or at most Paul Rudd. Here there is no one who could play his role decently, and the characters themselves are useless. Just another piece of meat for a maniac, nothing more.

The only obvious plus of this movie is that thanks to it you understand once again what a genius tune John Carpenter wrote for the franchise. This basic tune of his, after hundreds of remixes, still packs a punch and is always on point. Here, having undergone another remix, it's still genius. And if you watch the movie, it's only to listen to this very remix.

Halloween 8: Resurrection is a pathetic semblance of a horror movie that, even apart from the franchise, looks extremely inarticulate. What show, what the hell kind of gangsta niggers starring? Nah, folks. This is trash. In the worst sense of the word. To me, it's the worst part of the franchise since the trilogy.
