Review 4K Movie

After watching this movie I was very surprised with my impressions. The film, which I only watched to broaden my horizons and expected it to be just a shitty horror film with a bullshit idea, surprised me. What follows is probably my subjective rather than objective opinion, because this movie made me happy.

First of all, this movie finally got what I have been waiting for so long in all parts of Halloween: mysticism. I think the franchise, in each part of which the main maniac constantly survives in spite of all his wounds and is unusually strong, needs some notes of mysticism, because without them everything looks like uncovered nonsense, but thanks to the mystical atmosphere it is much easier to believe in everything.

There are curses, mysterious cults and no less mysterious constellations in the plot of this part, which manifest only on Halloween. In general, of course, it's not the height of originality, but it's still much better than what the creators shoved us the previous three parts. The presentation of the plot leaves much to be desired, of course, and there are enough bloopers as always, but for the sixth part of the famous franchise it is still sane. And once again I expected much worse.

In this installment, as in the previous one, Donald Pleasance was once again not alone. Paul Rudd was able to play his role as well as the big name actor and did not get lost at all. The others, unfortunately, are too boring and gray to be memorable in any way, so I think only these two characters are worth mentioning. But Pleasance's character in this part was too passive, he did not really depended on anything and in general was, I must say, a superfluous film character. But he played this superfluous character well.

As a separate aspect, I want to mention the local soundtrack. In my opinion, it is one of the best in the franchise. The percussive melodies blend seamlessly with the melodic rock and remix of the main Halloween tune. Such tunes magnificently build up the atmosphere during the action and make the picture more dynamic. And in terms of directing, the movie surpasses the previous parts (except, of course, the first two parts, everything looked a bit more artistic there). And Michael Myers is brutal and violent as always. And it gets stronger and stronger each time.

Halloween 6: The Curse of Michael Myers is quite a good part of the established franchise, not without new ideas. It finally has its share of mysticism, which smoothes out Michael's constant resurrections a bit, and which was sorely lacking in the previous installments. Although many of the storylines aren't brought to an end at all, which makes it a little uncomfortable. And otherwise, it's certainly far from a horror flick of the first order. But it is watchable.
