Unlike other major studios, Paramoumt Pictures is not spoiled with impressive and profitable franchises, so began work on the sequel immediately, enlisting the support of director Parker Finn. The man realized that a lot would be expected from the second part, so a certain pressure was on him. What was required was a script that would hit the ground running. Was he able to expand the universe he had invented? Did it emphasize the origin of the obscure entity? Did Smile 2 bring a new visual experience to the table?

There is only one answer to all the questions: no! As you may remember, the end of the first movie cut off halfway through, which surely promised a sequel. And if you don't remember, you'd better watch the 2022 horror flick. So here's Parker Finn filming the entire same story with an evil something, only in a different city, with different characters and on a different level. As you've realized, this Aphex Twin-inspired ghoulish grin ride can be shot and filmed for the rest of the decade, all you have to do is come up with new stories and find new actors. Here, of course, the director runs the risk of receiving a barrage of terrible negativity in connection with the repetition of the past, but before the premiere reviews so far did not promise a complete disaster. It remains to be seen over the first two weekends at the box office what the box office numbers will be.

Increased by 11 million dollars budget allowed to treat viewers quite appetizing long plan in the prologue with the participation of many people's favorite after “Stalker” Kyle Gallner. It was worth the will of fate-villain to find herself in the wrong place and at the wrong time, as an invisible parasite stuck to her, until the very victorious end not giving the girl a quiet life.

A slight difference from the heroine from “Smile” is that although the famous singer is surrounded by a sufficient number of people, she has no one to share her pain with, while the therapist from the first part could rely on two men around her. If we put aside the horror aspect, Parker Finn decided to show the audience the hard fate of all stars, who can be threatened by crazy fans, who have to spend hours at autograph sessions, who have to endure constant pressure because of contracts, schedules, tours. Since the director had two hours to spare, he presented it all on the screen with great gusto. The producers didn't seem to anger the genius and demand a cut, thinking only of the likely profit.

Which, of course, is doubtful. A viewer in the US might feel cheated, seeing much of the same stuff that was already shown in the project two years ago. Plus, many will resent the fact that the creator overplayed the hallucinations of the main character. As you remember, the monster sees only the “infected”, and in this regard you will face the fact that again and again you see “invisible” for other characters. And all this fun just for the sake of the long awaited ending, which reads easily. Again stopped halfway through, again thoughts of a sequel. If the threequel will be a direct consequence of what was in the last scene of “Smile 2”, then there will be anything but horror. So it's easier to make a prequel with the origin of evil for vivid interest.

Nevertheless, we personally loved the dilogy. The second part also pleases with competent boo-effects, excellent camerawork, interesting music, notable protagonist. There are visual effects, but at least they didn't screw up the horrors happening in the frame. Naomi Scott did a great job with her role. To bulge eyes and open the mouth during a fright also need to be able to, given the position of her heroine had to work face a lot. Our personal message to the director: stop with the second part.
