I'll say right away that I'm a fan of low-budget slasher and horror movies, especially the old ones from the '80s, which are the golden age of slasher movies. But even among these, at first glance, seemingly unnecessary films, there are both films that can really be safely advised to watch to a narrow circle of fans of such movies even nowadays, and literally trash tapes (which often it is almost impossible to find even in any form nowadays - and there is no sense in that).

So, in the case of “Sorority House Massacre” the viewer's attention is presented with just that godforsaken movie, which is the highlight and which really should be found by any fan of such spectacles and added to his collection. Especially since recently it finally became possible to find it with some Russian translation.

What is remarkable in “Massacre...”? The first half of this movie is very successfully pretending to be a psychological horror with frequent inclusions of suspense. They try to scare us with some near-mystical chatter of the main characters among themselves (I won't explain it so as not to spoil your pleasure, I will only say that this chatter is about psychological connection between related people and not only). They scare us and nightmares of the main heroine, which intensify the situation, while at the same time the frames from the psychotherapeutic hospital, from which the maniac of this picture is going to escape, are shown in parallel.

In the second half of “Massacre...” everything falls into place, and the movie turns entirely into a classic slasher with all the ensuing genre clichés like the view of future victims from the eyes of the maniac, constant hide-and-seek chasing of the heroes of the picture with the maniac and stupid situations, when instead of killing the usurper, the protagonists continue to run away from him further, gradually decreasing in number.

There are no unusual murders in “Massacre...”, everything is standard and without revelations. But this slasher is good exactly with its plot. It would seem that also nothing revelatory he does not present to the viewer, but, nevertheless, the storyline turned out to be intriguing, in some places exciting and creepy. The movie is really interesting to watch and no less interesting to guess who of the heroes will get to the final, and who will be killed by a maniac.
