Gregory Moore, an American journalist accredited in Prague, is found dead. To everyone he is a corpse, but in his lifeless body the mind is alive. Gregory tries to remember what brought him to the morgue, namely his desperate search for his bride-cheeks who disappeared without a trace.

Prague. A foreign reporter makes incisive reports while confronting the regime. He meets a young beauty and expects a serious continuation of the relationship. However, his former mistress is very worried about his leaving her. And the protagonist himself, instead of leaving, is looking for something in Prague. And soon his girlfriend disappears...

The director of the movie Aldo Lado pleasantly surprised me. Instead of the expected spy thriller I was faced with a very unexpected ending. Without going into details I will simply note that Aldo Lado showed us a very strange and scary sect. I'm sure that in the years of the ‘Iron Curtain’, Soviet critics would have seen a lot of hidden political undertones in the picture.

But I think that Aldo Lado made a simple conspiracy ‘maniacal’ thriller. He did it quite well. Although, many elements of the movie could have been strengthened.

It seems to me that this movie anticipated the appearance of Nicholas Roeg's ‘Now Don't Look’. Only the exotic Venice was changed by Aldo Lado to the mystical Prague. Actually, Prague is one of the main characters in the movie. After all, showing the views of the city occupies one of the central logical accents in the film.

The cast should also be noted. Barbara Bach, who played a small role, is simply marvelous. Her natural beauty greatly enhances the impression of the picture.

No less well looks and her vis-a-vis - actress Ingrid Thulin. Ingmar Bergman's muse is as usual serious and sexy. Although, in some moments it seemed to me that she overplayed a little. Still, horror movies and thrillers - not too typical for her genre. However, her stardom, fame and texture did their job. The role was successful.

A small colorful role skillfully played and Mario Adorf.

Well, the main role went to Jean Sorel. The actor confidently coped with it, demonstrating all his best qualities. It remains to wonder how the artist of his range did not become a world celebrity.
