For 28 years, a virus has been raging in the UK, turning infected people into aggressive flesh-eating creatures. In this terrifying world, 12-year-old Spike is trying to find a doctor for his dying mother.

The film turned out to be mediocre as a standalone work—it's watchable, but in the context of the previous installments, it raises many questions.

It is unclear how the virus was so easily eradicated on the continent, even though it got out of control in the second film. The ability of the infected to survive and even reproduce in the forests is also questionable. Remember that in the second film, they all turned into skeletons from starvation in a couple of weeks or something like that.

The style has changed significantly: psychedelic colors, inserts with chronicles or from other films not related to the franchise are unusual and annoying, especially against the backdrop of the atmosphere and filming format of the previous parts. This moment in the first half of the film generally created the feeling that you were watching arthouse cinema.

Towards the end, the group of survivors looks like something out of a teenage comic book — with stunts, strange costumes, and fights that don't fit well with the genre.

Rafe Fiennes' character is presented strangely: he is considered crazy simply because he neatly arranges corpses. There is no logic in his character.

The scene with the baby is particularly absurd: he survives without food, without making a sound or attracting the infected, and the writers simply try to show him as little as possible so they don't have to explain it.
