A small dog peeing fire flames on Freddy's grave in one of the heroes' dreams revives this Lord of Dreams. With joy he starts killing the surviving heroes of the previous installment, who at one time gave him a worthy resistance. It seemed that he would remain the invincible and terrible Nightmare of Elm Street. But Freddy miscalculated: a moment before his departure to the next world, Kristen, the last offspring of Elm Street, manages to transfer his unique ability to lure other people into his dreams to the girl Alice....

And so we come to the fourth film, the most commercially successful of the series. The director's chair was given to Renny Harlin, who was unknown at the time but would later become famous for the sequel to Die Hard and the poor film Cliffhanger starring Stallone. The script was again written by a bunch of unknown guys.

The main character of the previous film, Christine, makes new friends, but doesn't forget her old ones and lives a wonderful life. But one day, dog urine (no joke) revives Freddy Krueger from the ashes, and he resumes his body count. The hackneyed plot is good in that it introduces new characters who, unexpectedly for the viewer, become the main characters in the second half of the film. There are brutal murders here. The most memorable scenes are burning alive and breaking arms at the elbow joints. This unsurprising sequel may offer a couple of pleasant surprises.

Renny Harlin has always had a morbid fascination with special effects and fights, which are not lacking here. The heroine's kung fu-style battle with Freddy Krueger looks funny and brings a genuine smile to the viewer's face. The transitions from dreams to reality and other special effects turn A Nightmare on Elm Street into a fairy-tale action movie, which from time to time transports Krueger and the kids from one genre to another... Experiments with Krueger's appearance have already begun, and the drawbacks are obvious. He is shown frequently and is no longer as exciting as he used to be.

The distinctive appearance of actress Tuesday Knight, who also performed the title song for the film, is memorable. Tuesday is likable to the viewer, who doesn't think anything bad could happen to her. She plays Christine, the main character of the third film. Her appearance is softer than Patricia Arquette's, so in this film we see Christine already recovered from the shock.

In the end, Renny Harlin managed to make a good sci-fi action movie, but not a horror movie.
