Nightmare City is an Italian horror film directed by the renowned Umberto Lenzi, who also directed Cannibal Holocaust and Cannibals. Unlike the first two works, this one seems a little weak, but it is still an undeniable masterpiece of Italian horror.

To be honest, I was surprised. Surprised in a good way. I didn't really like ‘Eaten Alive’, and I just hadn't seen ‘Cannibals’ yet, and I thought I would once again be watching an hour of people fighting people and ten minutes of ‘zombie’ attacks. However, no, ten minutes in, we are already watching a bloody massacre perpetrated by zombies.

Also, the entire film, starting with the opening credits, is permeated with an oppressive atmosphere of fear and hopelessness. I watched this film right after a dozen others, and none of them made me shudder as much as this one! Believe me, you won't be disappointed.

The only thing that confused me was the “zombies” themselves, if I may say so. They are not zombies at all, but rather mutants... Not “rather,” but that's how it is. But they don't spoil the picture, they only complement it.

Nightmare City is an excellent horror film with a brilliant ending (which alone makes it worth watching the whole film) that will leave no one indifferent.
