Ex-military Reese lives in a zombie-infested Australian wasteland. He begins each day by tidying up his small household - watering the garden, feeding the useful (used for energy) zombies, scaring away the useless ones, replacing the depleted ones with new ones - and then he goes hunting. He traps the few survivors of the apocalypse and surrenders them to a military surgeon as material for experiments, and in return receives pills, which he takes every day. One day, Reese catches Grace, who has been bitten but not fully converted, and takes her to the lab, too. But soon her sister comes on to him and forces him to go and rescue Grace.

What to do if the zombie apocalypse comes? Hunter Reese knows the base. In the morning: abs pumping, jogging, tourniquet, anjumania. That's where the sequel to the Australian action movie "Wormwood: The Road of the Dead" begins, with the unsophisticated subtitle "Apocalypse."

The formula of the original "Wormwood" - Mad Max plus zombies - has been carefully transferred to the sequel with a slight shift toward action in confined spaces. Zombies have finally lost their status as antagonists. Now they mainly perform only applied tasks: as before, they emit gas used as fuel, serve as a punching bag for hunter Reese and work as a dynamo. In addition, zombie hybrids, which partially retain their human qualities and are able to control normal zombies, are moved to the second part.

The main conflict unfolds between the heroes of the original and the military cells engaged in the development of a vaccine. The new protagonist, Hunter Reese, is a typical brutal "Mad Max" without the excesses of a genre film.

Of interest is the antagonist. A nervous, bald scientist with a face distorted by drugs, reminiscent of the evil version of Nux from "Fury Road. He's a cyber-psychic with a wunderwaffle in the back.

There is noticeably more humor and caricature than in the original. As well as the budget, let's see if the next part will become a full-fledged blockbuster, which, in fact, I don't really want.

In the meantime, as Veronika Stepanova says, we are faced with a strong "bishka", which expanded the universe of the original a little bit, but could not jump over its head.
