Story Movie

A year has passed since the terrible events at Freddy Fazbear's pizzeria, and rumors about what happened have already become a local legend. The legend has become so popular that a festival is planned in the city in honor of the events. Former pizzeria security guard Mike and police officer Vanessa are hiding the truth about the fate of her animatronic friends from Abby, Mike's 11-year-old sister. However, when the girl runs away to meet Freddy, Bonnie, Chica, and Foxy again, she sets off a chain of frightening events.

Review 4K Movie

Usually, all sequels try to either go in a new direction or simply take what was in the first part and make it bigger and better. Five Nights at Freddy's 2 doesn't go down either of these paths; it has its own path—the path of a 90-minute sequel about everything and nothing.

The only plus of this film is that the animatronics themselves are done at an excellent level, perfectly conveying their images from the original. That's it, the pluses end there.

There is no plot in the film, not a single word. It's not that the first part had an Oscar-worthy plot, but it was there, and you could understand the main character's arc and why he does what he does, and it all culminates in the final act. In the second part, there is no main storyline at all, just a bunch of character arcs that lead nowhere and end in nothing.

The characters are bland. Mike Schmidt does nothing in the second film, and the reason why is obvious—because his arc ended in the first film, and it's unclear what to do with him in the second part of the film, except for one scene that repeats the gameplay from Five Nights at Freddy's. It's also sad with Vanessa. They tried to give her a more prominent role, which is actually a very good idea, but in the end, she remained exactly where she started. The only arc that is more or less complete is that of Abby, Mike's sister, and even that isn't a very interesting arc.

The secondary characters range from downright annoying to purely functional characters who are only there to move the plot forward.

The villains are just a circus. The puppet still works fine overall and even brings a bit of horror to the film, but it all falls flat the moment you realize that her plan works purely according to the “Oh, how convenient” template, even though in other cases she would have failed. There is another villain, but he is very closely tied to the lore, and that would be a spoiler, so the only thing I can say about him is that he is both the worst adaptation of the character and a villain with a very stupid plan.

There is no horror atmosphere at all. It's not that there was a lot of it in the first part, but even there they tried to build tension and suspense around Fazbear's Pizzeria and the tragedy that happened there, and the establishment itself played a big role. The second part ignores this, devoting less time to the establishment from the second part, but instead focusing on scenes at school, at home, and other places. Because of this, the film can be perceived as anything but a horror film.

I won't say that the first part is perfect, as it also has major problems, but instead of taking the positives from the first part, building on them, and correcting the mistakes, the sequel simply ignores the flaws that were in the first film and adds a bunch of other flaws, while losing many of the positives of the first part.
