Story Movie

The depletion of the ozone layer has had a devastating effect on the behavior of animals living at an altitude of five thousand feet. This comes as an unpleasant surprise to a group of tourists who were flown into the mountains by helicopter before the quarantine was declared. The animals become aggressive and start attacking people. To stay alive, the travelers must fight the frenzied wildlife...

Review 4K Movie

A group of tourists led by guide Steve Bakner arrives by helicopter in the mid-mountain range. Meanwhile, a radio broadcast reports that due to intense solar radiation, the animals have become aggressive and it has become very dangerous to remain there.

This is a decent adventure film with horror elements from the 1970s. It centers on an ecological disaster and a group of people’s survival in extreme conditions. Director William Gerder builds tension for quite a while, spending about an hour depicting the dynamics within the group of tourists. Standouts here include the cowboy-like guide played by Christopher George and Leslie Nielsen, who plays a very unstable character who completely loses his mind by the end and becomes extremely dangerous. Nielsen really delivers a solid performance here, especially toward the end, though I couldn’t quite shake his comedic persona.

The real action kicks off in the final half-hour, when all manner of creatures begin attacking the tourists—who have split into two groups led by George and Nielsen’s characters—en masse. It’s shot quite well, and there are a couple of scary scenes, like the dog attack.

The result is a pretty decent cautionary tale in the tradition of Hitchcock’s *The Birds*, wrapped up in an adventure thriller. No frills and nothing particularly special, but quite watchable.
