The Incredible Melting Man 4K 1977 Ultra HD 2160p
The astronaut returns to Earth to find his body beginning to decompose and literally melt right before his eyes. Another disturbing symptom is the urge to eat the flesh of his own kind.

Review 4K Movie

The era of space monster movies, in which screenwriters with serious faces and without a care for any conventions (how it flew, what it breathed, what it ate, where it pooped) produced unthinkable works, was over by the mid-60s. And I thought that the theme had run out of steam and would only return to it in the future as a parody-comedy 'Lobster Man', 'Bubbles', 'Cadavra Skeletons' and other things. Not so, it turns out back in the late seventies the theme was alive.

You know, I only saw this movie today, and when I was 7 or 8 I had a sticker album of footage from horror movies, and there, damn it, was the melted face of Astronaut Steve! I remembered it clearly now, it was that shot against the green when he frightened the little girl with him. Well, that's a confirmation that the movie didn't make it into the horror classics.

So, about the impressions. Of course, the makeup! Really, I'm so nostalgic for that pre-computer era in movies, when red paint, a can of condensed milk and absorbent cotton were used to create true masterpieces of the genre. One could also think of The Fly (very similar). The obvious weakness of the film is the plot. Obvious bloopers which don't stand the criticism of the mind remind either of children's fantasies or delirium: how did the crash ship from Saturn reach the Earth (if anything 1.195 billion kilometers), what is the hero's physiology, why does he restore his cells by eating meat, why do the most dangerous space radioactive mutant which eats people in packs, is hunted almost to the very end of the film by only 2 (two! ) people (a scientist and a general - check out the combination!) and so on and so forth.

In terms of timing, most of the movie is the usual slash, as well as close-ups of the main character wandering aimlessly in the lap of nature, remembering his last flight into space, and occasionally attacking secondary and occasional characters. By the way, I liked the backgrounds in some places, look at the scenery there: mountain streams, forests, a lemon grove! (And why am I sitting in my fucking Chelyabinsk?!) More or less action picks up in the last 20 minutes - thanks for that. There's even a hint that the main character is still human, that things could have gone differently, and that you lived, were an astronaut, wanted something, probably, but then you got sick, mutated and a janitor in a smelly warehouse will put all that's left of you in a trash garbage can and swear "you left a pig's behind". And then another janitor will fold that janitor and so on. Memento mori, my friends.

And despite everything, or if I'm old and want to be nostalgic for my youth, I liked the movie. The devil knows how they managed to shoot obvious nonsense so that you could watch it easily and without straining, and even with some interest and pleasure. And what do you think, my friends, about the scene of twelve-year-olds smoking? Can you imagine such a thing in any modern movie? In the U.S. they would have been dragged through the courts, but in Russia they would have been banned in case the kids saw it and decided to try smoking and eating human flesh.
