Story Movie

Composer and music professor John Russell lost his wife and daughter in tragic circumstances. Seeking solace, he moves into an old manor house that has not been lived in for twenty years. However, John gets the impression that there is someone in the house, and that someone is a child trying to initiate him into some mystery.

An excellent, high-quality film.

The genre is mystery and drama.

Atmospheric.

The original music, the architecture and interiors of an old mansion and the creepy story involving a secret room that no one has entered in almost a century - all this makes the picture as interesting as possible.

That's partly why I watch movies at night: if I start to fall asleep, it means the movie is lowbrow, but if sleep doesn't overcome me until the very end and even after, it means the movie was worth watching.

It was worth it.

Great acting.

Interesting camerawork.

Again, original music.

The aesthetic satisfaction of watching and contemplating.

And most importantly - the thoughts that arise during the viewing and after it. Thoughts on the world order, on people, on destinies, on helplessness and faith (not to be confused with religion), on family, on greed, on recklessness and heartlessness...

This film is reminiscent of some of the other films made later:

- 'The Call' in some plot points (the well, death) and in the idea (the troubled soul of the deceased);

- 'The Others' on the animation and mysteries of the house and on those very 'others;

- 'Shining' on plot points (the boiler room, the fire in the house, a creative person coming to this house to work in solitude) and on the creepy mysteries, on the creepy past of the mansion.
