Story Movie
A year has passed. And this means that Halloween is approaching again and again people will have to put on scary masks. Jamie, as we remember, was assigned to the Haddonfield psychiatric hospital, where she had an astral connection with the maniac and saw all his actions, and could also predict the danger to people near him. It’s Halloween, and Jamie began to show signs of anxiety, falling into a state of shaking every now and then. The girl is right - Michael is back again. Returned to stage a bloody massacre again ...
Review 4K Movie
The new story of Michael Myers began with the fourth part, where he finally left Laurie Strode alone and began the hunt for her daughter Jenny. I must say that this did not make the film worse, but on the contrary, in some elements it even began to surpass the original. This is primarily about meat and blood. The cruelty became much more, which made the movie even more brutal and gloomy than the first and second parts. Here, Myers shows real inventiveness in terms of murder: he pierces a couple in love with a fork, hangs a policeman with a stranglehold, sticks scissors in the shoulder, stabs a hoe in the face. And everything is filmed really cruel and realistic. I do not argue there are errors in some places, but if you take into account that the film was filmed in 1989, then this can be forgiven.
In its gloominess and tense atmosphere, this part surpasses the fourth. There is more suspense, the quality and quantity of the massacre has increased, which certainly pleases the eye. It seems to me that the fifth Halloween is simply not to be compared with the original and its sequel. It has a completely different atmosphere and storyline. This is a completely different story, but no less successful and scary. Here, all the horror revolves not around a seventeen-year-old girl, but a little helpless girl who will have a rather difficult test in order to overcome her own fear and with all this not fall under the knife of a bloodthirsty maniac. It is this component that makes the film scary, i.e. you imagine yourself in the place of a child and think how you would act in a given situation. This method can be used with adults, but they are more prepared and hardy and you no longer worry about them as you do about children.
The film turned out to be similar in atmosphere to the fourth part, only it turned out to be more dynamic and bloodier. I was especially impressed by the scene in the car when Myers was trying to run over Jenny at full speed. It turned out very spectacular and tense. Really worried about the girl. I also consider the original musical theme of the film to be an important plus in creating a tense atmosphere. It is she who plays an essential role in the plan of suspense, which makes us sit in tension and do not take our eyes off the screen.
Although I think the film is a worthy sequel, it still has its minuses, albeit small ones. In particular, I didn't like Michael Myers' new mask. In the original and its sequel, it was much better worked out than here and in the previous part. However, this flaw is generally covered by the storyline itself and the atmosphere of the film, so it is somehow not particularly striking. I just try not to pay attention to such errors, although of course it's a shame. Also not very pleased with the empty scene with two stupid cops playing cards. In general, for such a serious and bloody slasher, she is clearly out of place. These idiots have clearly confused a horror movie with a comedy.
Donald Pleasance looks more nutty here than in previous films. One gets the impression that he is generally obsessed with Michael Myers and is not interested in anything else in life. In the first part, he looked much more solid and did not seem as crazy as he will be here. In general, to put it bluntly, the whole storyline of the film revolves around the girl. All other actors fade into the background. Rachel is no longer given as much attention here as in the fourth part, and the new heroine Tina lasted only half of the film and was soon stabbed to death by Myers.
Daniel Harris's game turned out to be no worse than the previous part. She also realistically portrayed fear and horror, all the emotions experienced in the film. It is also worth noting that here she shouted much more often than in The Return of Michael Myers, which only makes the film even more intense and brutal in terms of slasher. The atmosphere, as in the fourth part to the finale, intensifies, the savagery of Myers increases and as a result, the last twenty minutes are ahead of us with an intense game with death, which started between Jenny and Michael Myers. It looks very impressive and impressive. More intense scenes emerged. In particular, I want to note such as the moment in the barn, the rescue from Myers' car, Jenny's final hide and seek. Indeed, these moments turned out to be well-posed and atmospheric, in the style of 80s horror films.
In conclusion, I want to say that the film turned out to be more spectacular than the fourth part, but clearly not holding up to the original. However, they are not even worth comparing. Each is good in its own way.
