The Core 4K 2003 Ultra HD 2160p
Geophysicist Josh Keyes has made a shocking discovery: the core of the earth has stopped rotating. The electromagnetic field of our planet is collapsing, and soon the Earth will die. There is only one hope: Keeze and a team of first-class scientists must go on an expedition to the halted core in a unique heat-resistant ship to explode a nuclear charge. This explosion will have to make the ill-fated nucleus spin. The journey to the center of the Earth begins!

Review 4K Movie

High-budget disaster movies often exploit the invasion of something not of our world, and by our world is always meant the Earth's biosphere, which, as the title makes clear, is inhabited by living organisms. Comets ("Collision with the Abyss"), meteorites ("Armageddon"), and volcanoes of all kinds do pose a great danger to us, though not every day. But there is also the sun, from whose hot rays we are protected by a magnetic field. You might think that "Earth's Core" (with what a bang!), which failed at the box office, heralded the end of the era of expensive disasters, but in fact, the opposite is true: the film transformed the whole genre, moving away from the usual natural disasters into the less explored and fantastical realm. Although the latter, admittedly, was a bit too much.

Trying to rely on information about the internal composition of the Earth and its impact on the surface, the director at the same time moves too far away from the scientific picture of the world. The reason is simple: large-scale destruction, for which such films are conceived, is not possible in the chosen scenario, so John Amiel tightens the screws, creating a cataclysm literally out of nothing. In fact, Earth's Core should have been presented in a different way - as an adventure, not a catastrophe. The journey to the center of the Earth shown has nothing to do with Jules Verne's novel, and yet this is the scenario that would have most likely justified itself. Think about it, what is more fantastic: an underground ecosystem with forests and seas or a lava ocean with floating rock bubbles?

Because the film was shot and finalized under harsh conditions, one of the most important parameters suffered - the visual. Probably the budget was not enough for better cameras, as the picture corresponds to the level of the mid-1990s. A sad chuckle is caused by the special effects, which look so untrustworthy that the cartoonish "Toy Story" is perceived as a real movie. This applies not only to the journey through the mantle, but also to the events on the surface, the plausibility of which is equally bad not only scientifically but aesthetically. Most likely, the director realized the genre mistake already at the post-production stage, but it was too late to change anything.

In many ways, Earthkernel feels almost like Armageddon: both films abound in humor that smoothes out the sadness and despair of multiple disasters, yet both films are equally far from believable. Even the actors, including Aaron Eckhart, Delroy Lindo, Hilary Swank, Richard Jenkins and D.J. Cools, try to imitate the characters from the Michael Bay blockbuster. The imitations are not bad, and it is probably the actors who pull Earthforce out of its layer of failures. The characters are sympathetic even though many of the story lines seem very predictable. But as has been said more than once, movies with predictable endings are basically there to love.
