Finland, 1944. The Germans are retreating, leaving scorched earth behind them. A former Finnish soldier finds a gold mine in Lapland, but encounters a Nazi detachment on his way home.

The absurdist film style with its peculiar black humor of the last decade and a half is something. Taika Waititi and Tommy Wirkola have managed to create such an insanely trashy genre that you always expect something different from them. And, if you take away Waititi's so-called "blockbusters" like "Thor," the expectations are met. Helander, whose "Santa For Sale" was hard to call an ordinary film, is not far behind. True, he makes films much less frequently than his colleagues in this style, and so the new work clearly piqued my interest. And I was not disappointed.

The plot: a tough Finnish grandfather is trying by all means to "wrest" the gold taken from him by the Nazis.

I'll tell you right off the bat - there's nothing realistic to talk about. A non-stop bloody mess with no logic, but with excellent very black humor. A wild mixture of Tarantino's "Inglourious Basterds", "Die Hard" and "John Wick". A German prisoner hanging from a tank barrel, a pickaxe in an airplane wing, a murder by a land mine, a body count while riding a motorcycle, etc., etc. And a chic Silent Bob-style ending.

You can safely put it on a par with "Dead Snow 1, 2" and Virkol's "Brutal Night" - no realism, but a lot of black humor.

And no one is claiming to be realistic in "Sisu".
