Story Movie

Due to heavy fog, a multi-vehicle accident occurs on the long bridge to Incheon Airport. The emergency services are unable to reach the scene quickly, and in addition, a secret project's killer dogs break free from the van that was transporting them. The citizens will have to survive on their own.

This film with the original title “Project Silence” premiered at last year's Cannes Film Festival, where the movie received smashing reviews, the Korean box office was pushed back almost a year, and the tape went for a remount, and about five minutes were cut out of it, which, alas, did not help much.

With as much as $15 million and a winning concept for a disaster and horror movie, where survivors are attacked by genetically engineered killer military dogs on a crumbling bridge shrouded in thick fog, Director Kim Tae-gon and three screenwriters (including himself, “Train to Busan” co-writer Park Chu-seok, and “With the Gods” hitmaker writer-director Kim Young-hwa) have managed to pile on the crap, both on the screenwriting and directing levels.

With such introductions it was God's command to make a scary and cool horror-thriller to make your knuckles white, but no - the creators preferred to make a typical American bash with Korean faces (not the last people in the frame, moreover), providing it with all kinds of Western stupid script and director's stamps and stupidity. And this is not to mention the crappy graphics (the dogs here are computer-generated and look very bad, as well as everything else) and the general cleanliness and lack of bloodiness, which in this concept is vital here, but it looks like a Disney movie.

In general, everything here feels like blatant hackwork. A military man who transports dangerous creatures decides to look “what's up with the dogs”. That mega-dangerous and bloodthirsty dog, which tears throats with half a throat at armed to the teeth special forces ATTENTION can not overpower the unarmed protagonist, standing on his chest and piled him on the asphalt, only viciously gnashing his teeth, and that he pardon him with his bare hands holds - fairy idiocy, of course. It's a pity for good actors, including the late Lee Sung-kyung, who have nothing to play here, except that it's nice to look at them.

At the same time, the movie has some typical Korean themes and tricks about corruption, relationships and the rudiments of characters interesting in theory, but, I repeat, all the trump cards and possible positive aspects were flushed down the toilet by the creators for the sake of the Western audience, for which apparently this nonsense was designed, because in Korea the movie failed miserably at the box office, collecting only 5 million dollars. Strange that Netflix didn't sell it.

Pluses, well, so that you do not think, the picture still has two: dynamics and timing of 90 minutes, this is, in fact, everything. The closest analog is the sequel “Train to Busan”, but that was almost 2 hours long, so here it's not even long to suffer if anything.
