Only with the arrival of Thomas, who quickly earns credibility and becomes a runner, has the search succeeded and with great losses, breaking through the organization of OO ROK, conducting research on them, they leave the laboratory and fall into the hands of the military, exporting Gladers from the desert in a safe place.

Finally, the children will learn what is becoming a shock for them: civilization is practically dying from a deadly virus that turns people into so-called Shizov, "infected", and the cities are destroyed and wiped off the face of the Earth. Scientists are looking for a vaccine to stop this madness, but the resistance to the virus is only a group of teenagers, on which experiments were conducted, they are called "immune". Only a pure accident helps the gladers discover that the Labyrinth was not alone, but unknown military supporters of P.O.O.K. Now the running of our heroes begins with an endless pursuit and their persecution through the desert and destroyed cities. Gladerov's goal is to find in the mountains an insurgent group called "Right Hand".

The search for the detachment was not easy for the guys: they faced betrayal of the one they believed - Teresa (Kaya Skodelario), and when they attacked the rebel camp, militants seized their friend Minho runner (Li Gui-hong). Gladers are involved in a combat operation to rescue captured immunities, but Minho is not among them. The trail from the kidnappers leads to the only surviving Last city, which is essentially the same labyrinth and where PUROK conducts the final experiments on the creation of serum, but at what cost !? Minho barely manages to keep his mind from the fact that scientists "work on him". To rescue him, a detachment headed by Thomas is sent to the City, and with him are his faithful friends - Newt (Thomas Sanger), Brenda (Rosa Salazar) and others. They will either break into the citadel, find Minho and receive answers to the questions that tormented them, or perish.

"Runner in the labyrinth" - a common name for the entire franchise - is based on the post-apocalyptic youth novels of James Dashner. Their distinctive feature is that in each part there is a riddle, there are running and there are territories that are basically Mazes. Our heroes flee from Glade through the Labyrinth, through the desert, abandoned cities and mountains and the end of their journey - the labyrinth of the Last City. In fact, running in the labyrinth is the leitmotif of all three films.

All three parts of the "Runner" look different. The first part, closest to the literary source, is striking in its mystery, the secret Labyrinth, which the gladers are trying to solve. Juicy colors of the clearing, thickets of trees contrast with the mechanism of the Labyrinth and the creatures that inhabit it. But even more, they contrast with the desert and the destroyed cities, as well as those characters that meet in the way of the detachment in the second and third parts. This is the mysterious organization of OO ROK, leading the study of the vaccine in very barbaric ways, and their militants are also infected with the virus, called shizas, and survivors who escaped infection, trying to survive in inhuman conditions.

The achievement of the franchise is that the director Wes Ball brings the trilogy to the end, to the logical conclusion, when the motives of all the characters are clear and the fate of each character is clear. The third part - "Maze Runner The Death Cure" Ultra HD - retains only the canvas of the literary source and differs from the previous two films in that it is most saturated with action. The scales of the spectacle, its dynamism and dramatism are amazing: the struggle for the fight, the chases, the complex military operations, the storming of the city ... Of course, there are inconsistencies here: yesterday's children who grew up in Glade's conditions, that is, well-aimed fighters who have mastered martial arts and bravely entered the fight with the special squads of P OR O.K., moreover, quite successfully, and their skills and courage are not numbered. Probably, this is the cost of the genre, but it looks exciting!
