When Eva was young, she was orphaned by armed men led by a man nicknamed the Chancellor. So the girl found herself in the criminal family "Russka Roma" in the care of the principal of a New York ballet school, simultaneously serving as an academy of assassins. Having failed to achieve success in ballet, but having graduated with honors from the combat courses, Eva goes to Europe to avenge her father.

After watching Ballerina, I left the theater feeling satisfied. The John Wick formula (minimal dialogue, maximum action) is still the best fit for entertainment cinema.

The creators were unable to surpass the benchmark action scenes of the fourth John Wick, but there was no need to. The spin-off attracts with a new feature—weapon diversity.

There are duels with flamethrowers, battles with grenades, claymores, and practically every means at hand, from ice picks to ceramic plates. Because spectacle reigns supreme over realism in this franchise, such battles with enemies sometimes take you by surprise (in a good way).

Thanks to Ana de Armas' character, this improvisational fighting style looks much more effective than if she had been replaced by the less flexible and more massive Keanu.

Her ballerina is also organically woven into the plot between the third and fourth films of the universe. She interacts with all the familiar faces and catches the famous killer during his last visit to the Russkaya Roma family.

The updated visual palette of the costumes is also pleasing. Finally, the costume designers have a heroine who can be dressed in a shiny scarlet dress. After endless black jackets, this element also refreshes the familiar picture.

You can watch Ballerina without knowing the previous films. So, if you just want to relax your brain, this is one of the best options.
