Arthur Bishop (Charles Bronson) is a so-called Mechanic by profession. However, he does not work in a car repair shop, but kills people. He is a hired assassin, a ruthless lone killer with no address, no relatives, and no friends. He kills not for money, but because it “allows him to remain outside this world and be his own master.” To avoid putting himself in danger, he must always remain invisible, but everything changes when he takes on the task of training a young and talented guy.

The film, which is taciturn and generally based on fairly simple dialogue, seems to have been originally conceived this way by director Michael Winner. He is a loner and doesn't talk much, so he doesn't need to have any oratorical talents. If viewers like The Mechanic, it is because of the musical accompaniment, the atmosphere of mystery and tension (especially the preparation for the first murder at the beginning of the film).
There have already been quite a few similar clones, i.e., films on similar themes. There have been films that are both better and worse, but The Mechanic confidently takes its place among films of this kind. The current Dangerous Bangkok and Hitman are simply shot in a more dynamic manner, which is why films from those years may seem a little boring to today's viewers.
